What is Wuji

It is the point of contact alignment and flow

The Cosmos, called Taiji in Chinese, originates from the Limitless Void, called Wuji. The Limitless Void is the undifferentiated spread of infinity and eternality. There is no space, and there is no time. It is one nebulous spread of energy. Wuji meditation the "mother of taiji," this is the deepest level of energy cultivation, and of mental/spiritual awareness.

Wuji

Literally, wu (无) means “no” and ji (极) means “extreme.” In contrast with taiji, which means “grand extreme,” in wuji there is no differentiation of yin and yang: no good/bad, happy/sad, attraction/aversion. Wuji is a subtle void, but it is not empty—it is full of undifferentiated energy from which arise yin and yang and the “10,000 things.”

“Wuji is the mother of taiji” (or “taiji comes from wuji”) is a very famous saying in taiji practice.

Realizing wuji

Wuji is realized in deep meditation and is practiced in sitting, standing, and lying down meditation exercises. Indeed, meditation is called “wuji” in traditional practice. To return to wuji is the goal of meditation (or, to be more accurate, some forms of meditation — keep reading to see what I mean). Other traditions may use different words (e.g. calm abiding), but the meaning is the same.

Wuji is a profound state of mental and physical relaxation, of mind/body/spirit integration. To experience wuji is to know the bliss of a mind undisturbed by ego, by thoughts of judgments of good/bad or attraction/aversion, past/future. To realize wuji is to feel the energy of the universe in you. This energy is the mother of taiji.

When the energy is full, it is natural to want to move. Once the intention of movement arises, the energy is separated into yin and yang (soft/hard, left/right, up/down, store/release, etc.), and taiji movement is born. After moving it is natural to return to stillness. This is one example of the wuji/taiji/wuji progression.

Ultimately, words and rational thinking are inadequate to convey the feeling of wuji. Wuji can only be known experientially. So practice we must.

Wu Chi (Wuji)

It is intended to align your spinal column; decompress your joints; and to get you into a state of readiness for cultivating your chi. To do this it’s important to let go of worries and concerns; to be in a place of no-mind; present in the moment; relaxed in your body, and mentally connected to the Earth and Heaven Qi.

Wu means nothing, nothingness or without.

Wu Chi (or wuji) refers to a state of entering the void; the stillness and emptiness of the universe; before yin and yang; before time, and manifestation of the physical. It is about connecting with the ‘oneness’ of all things, or Source energy. You could also think of it as being ‘in the flow’.

Medical Qi Gong  can be used with and is a great compliment to Western medicine, and can successfully treat conditions that western medicine finds difficult or vague to

At the root of Chinese Medicine is Medical Qi Gong which has been practiced for thousands of years.  It was passed from master to student.

When our bodies are run down, tired, or dis-eased, the flow of Qi/Energy will be out of balance.

The Medical Qi Gong therapist will work with the imbalanced energy to re-align it by nourishing deficiencies, helping the body to release toxic energy and allowing the body to bring in new energy.  It works similar to acupuncture since it uses the energetic principles upon which acupuncture is based.

Master Ben Higgins MMQ

Ben started his journey into Qigong in 2014 with Qigong Master Sara Storm in Seattle. Initially, he was looking for a daily practice to strengthen his body he began practicing the Daoist Five Yin form.  Ben enjoyed the art of self-cultivation, so signed up for the Medical Qigong Master's Program with the International Institute of Medical Qigong, completing his clinical requirement to earn Therapist designation under the tutelage of Master Storm in 2016

It was during this time that Ben was introduced to The Movement Center and the meditation practice and philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism.  That practice greatly benefitted Ben's Energy cultivation and meditation skills.  He received initiation from Swami Chetanananda in 2016.  Ben continues to practice this meditative practice and philosophy under his guidance.

Ben then went on to study with Master Wendy Lang DMQ in Vancouver BC to complete his 1000 hours to earn the tile of Master of Medical Qi Gong in 2022.

Ben has studied with Shifu Francesco Garri Garripoli, the Chairman of the Board of the Qigong Institute, where he earned permission to teach both the Organ Cleansing form and Wuji Hundun form, the lineage of which can be traced back 900 years to the Forbidden City.

Also qualified to teach Daoist Five Yin, the I Quan  and several other Qigong forms. Ben continues to practice daily and deepen his commitment to self-cultivation, with the core teaching principle of contact, alignment and flow.
